AND
NOW WE HAVE . . .
“REACH TO THE BEACH” – LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA, THAT IS …
READ ON
Greetings
to all Cat 30 owners. You are all
cordially invited to join Cat 30 Fleet 8 in Long Beach, California, August 16,
17 & 18, 2002 for our Catalina 30 National Championship Regatta. Fleet 8 is co-hosting with Little Ships
Fleet Yacht Club. This event promises
to be great fun for racers and non-racers alike. Aside from the keen Corinthian competition of C30 one-design
racing, other highlights of the regatta will be our dinner-dance, burger bash,
continental breakfasts, raffle prizes and much more. Non-racers may attend the shore activities or gad about the
general area in search of Disneyland,
Knott's Berry Farm, the Queen
Mary, or even venture out on the "cattle boat" to Santa Catalina
Island for the day. Whatever you do,
don't miss this great weekend in Long Beach.
We
will have dock space for all out of towners and a limited number of loan
boats. For the "fun racer" in
all of us, we will have a cruising class with handicaps for such items as fixed
props, etc. Don’t want to race your own
boat? Get in on the fun the easy way,
and with considerably less expense, by crewing with a C30 rock star. If you are skippering a boat, you must be a
member of the IC30A. If you’re not a
member, no problem, you can join the organization when you check in at the
registration table upon arrival. The
annual dues are $20.
Briefly,
the plan for the weekend goes like this:
Fri
16th: Check-in, registration, sail
measuring, and practice race in the afternoon.
Then join the fun for an informal evening at
Little Ships Fleet Yacht Club for hors d'oeuvres and libations.
Sat
17th: Check-in and sail measuring
continues and a skippers' meeting at 9:00 a.m. Two races.
Saturday evening will be a dinner-dance at
the Seaport Marina Hotel.
Sun
18th: Final race. Trophy presentation. Burger bash. IC30A business meeting.
Please
make use of the forms enclosed. If you
have any questions, please contact me by phone, email or snail mail. (Semafore I can handle, smoke signals I'm
not too sure of.) We urge early
responses so we can plan effectively.
Hope
to see you August 16. Smooth sailing
everyone.
